SURFLESS SEPTEMBER

It is now October and the entire month of September passed by without a single surf day. I have been told that ribs take a long time to heal, and now I know from personal experience just how true this is. I only hope I can be back in the water before October passes by too.

Below is a short video of the actual ride that smashed my ribs. It wasn't the wave that did the damage, it was the "flying off and hitting the water behind at a high rate of speed" part. Something I have done many times before with no problems whatsoever, but this time was different.
It felt like I slammed into a solid concrete sidewalk.

On the brighter side, I was able to paint quite a lot this month.
Here is one of my newest Plantation House paintings.

SANDY BEACH SUNRISE

Although I am still unable to surf, Brighton and I like to hang out at Sandy's and enjoy the sunrise. This mornings one was another spectacular show. I feel so lucky to be here, even if I can't be out in the water enjoying it yet. The waves were nice and glassy today with some decent size, and the guys were having lots of fun on them (which made my ribs hurt that much more).
Happy Tuesday!

MAUI HELPS HEAL DA RIBZ

It has now been more than a month since my ribs were injured. So far, a month out of the ocean, and it looks like it's going to take even more time recouping. I really should pack up my paints and head out on a Maui Paintcation to get my mind off of not being able to surf.
In the meantime, here are my latest "Maui Mini's".

ALOHA, ISLAND DREAM~MOBILE

Today, I said Aloha & Farewell to my Island Dream~mobile.

In the 10 years that I have had it, I only managed to rack up 14,566 miles.
It still looked like new.

I love my Island Dream Xterra, but it was time to pass it on to someone who can put it to good use.

Guess I will have to come up with another solution for drying my larger paintings, as the "Xterra Dryer Rack" is no longer an option.

MINI HAWAII's HEAL DA RIBZ

A few weeks ago, I injured my ribs while surfing. Water can be harder than you realize. It is taking a long time to heal, and unfortunately, I will be out of the water for at least a month. But on the bright side, painting is something that hasn't been affected, so this fish out of water has had time to create a new batch of "Mini Hawaii's".
Enjoy!

TEAHUPO'O TAHITI

This past week, I have been watching the "Billabong Pro Tahiti" with guys surfing the gnarliest barrels at Teahupo'o. Thought it might be fun to try painting a little Tahiti for a change!
