T.P.paya Tree

Hawaii is to remain in lockdown for the month of June, month number three, now. My garden is doing well and supplying us with delish greens for salad and many veggies are almost ready to harvest. But the best news of all, the T.P.paya Tree that my parents gave me last month has made it's first little fruit this morning!
Fresh T.P. and homegrown veggies, I think we can now make it through another month of lockdown.

AUNTIE's GARDEN SHED

Although during these past several weeks of lockdown, I have been much more into gardening than painting, I was recently inspired to do a small 8x10 of my Auntie's Garden Shed, because of a funny memory.

My Great Aunt & Uncle had a large farm, and a beautiful garden with tons of veggies, including carrots. My cousin and I, when very young, decided to pick a carrot, take a bite each, and find it to be too unripe for our liking. So instead of just throwing it away, we stuck it back into the hole it had come from!
I can only imagine what my Auntie thought was going on with that bite-marked carrot on harvest day, although she probably knew.......

STAYING HOME BUT STILL MAKING TRACKS

We are now in our second month of lockdown here in Hawaii. Having to stay home doesn't really bother me much since I really dislike shopping. (I will even eat cereal for dinner if it means putting off going to the grocery store for one more day!) At least surfing is still allowed, and we always look forward to our Dawn Patrol mornings. Although I have not been very inspired to paint recently, I did create a little scene on one of my boards. It's kind of a "someday" dream scene.

SANDIA SUNSET

When I was quite young, I lived in New Mexico for a few years. One of the first things I learned to spell was
A-L-B-U-Q-U-E-R-Q-U-E.
Our home had a wonderful view of Sandia Peak.

WHEN THE SHAMA SINGS

Although this is not one of my usual landscape paintings, I wanted to give the white rumped shama a try with my knife. The shama is one of my favorite song birds and we have a few that like to visit our tropical garden. This painting was done about 5 weeks ago, with the start of the coronavirus lockdown in Hawaii. Not knowing what to expect over the next few weeks or months, I would hear the little white rumped shamas, singing their beautiful songs each morning. They didn't seem too worried about the days ahead, which gave me a great sense of hope (and inspiration to paint something different).

INHERITED CREATIVE GENES

My parents are so innovative. They recently created a hybrid Papaya seed that is able to quickly produce a very beneficial fruit during this challenging time of Coronavirus lockdown here in Hawaii. This little tree is only two weeks old and has already made it's first fruit ready for harvest. Over time, the fruits will become more-sheets-per-roll jumbo sized.

Introducing the new and improved "T.P.paya Tree".
The world is saved!

I love my parents and their creative sense of humor thru this challenging time of lockdown in Hawaii. We were just informed that the stay-at-home orders are now extended through the month of May, as well. Although being an artist, and working from home, I am not as affected by the lockdown as many are, I am finding it hard to be inspired to paint, and have recently been spending more time outdoors in my tropical garden. Adding more vegetable seeds, and of course tending to my new T.P.paya tree!
