THE BRY HIKES

This past weekend's hike was difficult for me.
It wasn't the strenuous 5 mile length, or the 2,000+ foot elevation gain, it was the fact that this was the first hike without my little sidekick along with us.
Brighton LOVED to go hiking, and he got to climb many of Oahu's peaks numerous times. He could handle even the most difficult trails we went on. Even after a long trek many miles up a steep mountainside, he still looked as fresh as a daisy.
The hike this past weekend reminded me (not that I needed reminding) just what a Little Superman he really was. As I climbed up, up, up, past sections of crazy slippery gnarled tree root covered ground, or hundreds of steep muddy steps, I was again amazed that he had always been right there alongside us, giving us the "C'MON GUYS HURRY UP!" look.
Only 187 more to go........

Mommy, how come your face is beet red?

We made it, Little Superman!
Although he was not too happy about it, I did carry him both up and down the really steep stair sections.
To be able to handle as he did, for miles and miles on those little legs, and always so happy to be out there with us, melts my heart.

OK MOM, I guess you can carry me the rest of the way home.
I know it makes you happy.
I LOVE YOU BRIGHTON

PU'U PEHE ~ A Palette Knife Painting Video

With the help of Bry's Magic Paw, I share with you the creation of my palette knife painting "Pu'u Pehe".
Also known as "Sweetheart Rock", this iconic landmark is located between Manele Bay and Hulopo'e Bay, on the island of Lana'i.
Enjoy~

PAK CHOI PALM TREES !

Did you know that pak choi can grow into little palm trees? And that they can produce greens as "cut and come again" for over a year?! It's true, I had no idea until I tried it. This is Mini Green Li Ren Pak Choi. We planted it near the early stages of our "Covid Garden" - May 28th, 2020 to be exact. We have been harvesting these Mini Li Ren weekly for over a year now, growing in only a 12 quart dishpan. We never imagined they could keep producing fresh, green, delicious mini pak choi for so long. Nature is amazing!

A WAVE FOR LYNNE

My friend and fellow artist, Lynne Boyer, is unfortunately injured and unable to surf. As a two time world surf champion, I can't imagine how bummed she must be right now. She has asked me to catch a few waves for her. Although Bertha (aka Sashimi Rock) has been pretty moody lately, as I paddled out past her, I sang to her. She loves when you sing her favorite song (can you guess what it is?), and if you sing it with all your heart, she will occasionally dish you out a decent wave. Here's the best I could get for you, Lynne. Bertha was feeling extra chipper today and gave me a Lemonade Truck Driver for you too!

Bertha and I both hope you get well soon, so you can be back out there shredding the waves once more!

LIL' MS. HENNYKINS SWEET BEAKS SHED

"Lil' Ms. Hennykins Sweet Beaks Shed"
8x10 Palette Knife Painting

Many years ago, we met Sweet Lil' Ms. Hennykins, happily managing the Chic Chick Beach Condos. She had a beautiful ocean view penthouse
overlooking Sandy Beach.

Sadly, the Chic Chick Condos were recently demolished to make way for a 50 story high rise roost. Lil' Ms. Hennykins had no other choice but to relocate.

We were able to catch up with her, and found that she is now managing the Sweet Beaks Shed out in the countryside. Although she does miss the ocean, she claims country life is more for her.
She has found pure happiness and never wants to leave.
Good for you, Sweet Lil' Ms. Hennykins!
Welcome to the Sweet Beaks Shed.

Lil' Ms. Hennykins is there on the left.
