"Toshie's Pizzaz" keeps trying to outdo herself. This morning she surprised me with a gorgeous double double. Although I took these photos outside, Toshie lives in my kitchen garden window full time and sure knows how to bring a happy, cheerful feeling to the room!

Spent a beautiful morning plein airing at
Kaiona Beach Park in Waimanalo.
As I turned around to take a quick break, I noticed the view behind me was pretty special too. Maybe a scene for another plein air day.
The smaller island to the right of Manana (Rabbit) Island is known as Kaohikaipu.
I decided to focus my painting on a zoomed in view of this island and the shoreline.
The giant seabirds flying overhead always amaze me. Luckily, they did not feel the need to contribute anything extra to my painting.
The constant ocean breeze kept the temperature nice and cool.
It was another perfect plein air day!

This morning, I decided to paint a beautiful little cove located between Makapu'u and Baby Makapu'u, but as I got to the site, I quickly realized I was going to have to change my plans.
Located in the exact spot that I was planning to paint was a sailboat that ran aground. There were strings of caution tape, cones, and a crew of several workers, trying to collect the wreckage that lined the shore, and remove the vessel from the rocks. It was a pretty sad sight, and unfortunately, did not provide the inspiration I had anticipated.
Sailboat debris lined the shoreline, and there was a distinct diesel fuel smell.
Several heaps of splintered wood with nails sticking out of them made me not want to stay in the area.
Luckily, Makapu'u and Baby Makapu'u provide many scenic views, so I quickly change my plans and head towards the tidepools instead.
Coming along nicely, but it sure is one of the most muggy hot and humid mornings I've ever experienced plein airing!
Brighton decides to cool off his toes in the tidepools for a while.

Here is the last of the Grand Tetons (for the time being). My knife was able to change from tropical to rugged mountainous terrain for a while, and is now ready to dive back into palm trees and turquoise waters once again!
