2022 PUNAHOU CARNIVAL VIRTUAL ART GALLERY

Another year, another Punahou Online Art Gallery!

Again this year, still due to Covid, the Punahou Art Gallery will be online only.
I decided back in October of 2021 that I wanted to figure out how to paint seascapes well with my knife and have "waves" be the theme for my entries to Punahou this year. It took many months, and quite a bit of hard work, but I accomplished what I set out to do, and am very happy. A sale of any of my paintings at this event would just be the icing on the cake!

The show’s public opening is 6 p.m. Monday, January 31st and runs through Saturday, February 5th. The complete Virtual Gallery can be viewed here
(link will not work until Jan.31st):

MAKING WAVES ~ A Palette Knife Painting Video

A short video of six of my new wave paintings.
Enjoy~

Painting Video videos
Side-note: The music used in this video was performed and recorded by the
Bongzee Strummers
(Dean picking, Lisa chord strumming)
many years ago, when Brighton was still a pup. It was a fun hobby of ours, but Bry didn't much like the involvement the Ukes received when we played. He would run around and climb over us, vying for our attention. In this video, you can hear a faint jingle, jingle, jingle of his dog tags.

Also, at the end of the song, Dean had unconsciously let out a
"Whew!"
before we turned off the recorder, relieved he had completed the song without mistake. I could have removed these sounds to make the video "better", but to me, they were special, I knew without a doubt they would stay. Hearing that little tinka, tinka, tink of Bry's collar again made it feel like he was here helping me make this video, and that was a really nice feeling!

HALF POUNDERS

Thank You Garden!
Was stoked to harvest some half pounders this morning!
You mainlanders may think this is nothing unusual, but here, if we can grow a mater larger than a golf ball, it is considered success! They say tomatoes are a warm weather crop, but in Hawaii it is opposite, and the past two years, our tomatoes have done MUCH BETTER in the "cold" Dec-Feb months.

BLACK ROCK BEACH ~ KA'ANAPALI

Black Rock Beach is a very picturesque stretch of sand in Ka'anapali, on Maui's northwest coast. It's a fun place to watch tourists and locals alike practice their cliff diving skills, and provides great views of the islands of Lana'i and Moloka'i. In this painting, Moloka'i can be seen in the distance.
